CAHIMA Membership Message

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the CAHIMA Board has made the decision to cancel the Education and Annual Business Meeting previously scheduled for June 27, 2020. The Annual Business Meeting portion of the meeting will be recorded, and you will receive a recording of the meeting for your review.

At this time, it is not possible for us to forecast our next meeting date, but we hope, and are planning, to be able to resume CAHIMA education meetings and activities in the latter part of 2020. We are currently seeking host sites for future education meetings for the 2020-2021 membership year which starts July 1, 2020 and ends June 30, 2021. If anyone has a connection to a site which has appropriate seating for a meeting of a minimum of 40 to 60, please contact Deb Balentine ( as soon as possible.

The Board would like to express their regret for this inconvenience and, in an effort to assist you in obtaining your Continuing Education Units (CEUs), we are providing the following information:

  • The Illinois Health Information Management Association (ILHIMA) is launching a Virtual Meeting to replace the Annual meeting that was also cancelled in April of this year. The Virtual Meeting will grant up to 20 CEUs and will be “On Demand” so you can view the presentations at your convenience. For more information, refer to the ILHIMA Annual Meeting website. You can also refer to the “Continuing Education” menu option at the top of the Home Page for more ILHIMA educational opportunities or click here.
  • In addition to this meeting, there are also many webinars that are being sponsored by other Component State Associations (CSAs) that are relatively inexpensive. Learn more.

It has been a very challenging time for us all, but our nation will continue to persevere.

In closing, the CAHIMA Board would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for your support during our 2019-2020 membership year and we are looking forward to your continued membership, the growth of CAHIMA, and the strengthening of the HIM community into the future.

Take Care and Stay Safe,
